Actor Keanu Reeves, known for his roles in films like The Matrix and John Wick (as well as for being a genuine stand-up guy), is going sports car racing. The legendary performer is entered as a one-off in the GR Cup field racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend, his first appearance in a race since 2014.

The actor made in announcement in a video posted on the X account of Fanatec GT World Challenge America pwd by AWS, the official social media site for the series organizing this weekend’s events at Indy.

Reeves is best known for his acting, but he has a surprisingly robust history with cars and motorcycles. He has long been a regular visitor on both Formula 1 and MotoGP grids around the world; indeed, he ranks among the most dedicated celebrity fans of grand prix racing on both two and four wheels. His motorcycle collection is legendary, and he even has his own moto brand.

Reeves also already has a race win in something like a a Toyota, although it came in a road-going Scion modified for safety at the 2009 Long Beach celebrity race. The Speed star also competed in the 2010 Long Beach event as a pro, but he has not been seen on a racing grid since. He now steps back onto a grid in a spec GR86, the weapon of choice in Toyota’s relatively new GR Cup series — and a much more serious machine than the Scion tC models used in his past celebrity races.

Reeves will be joined at Indy by another celebrity driver: Cody Jones, from the 60-million subscriber YouTube channel Dude Perfect. Jones gained his spot in the race as a prize for winning a go-kart race among other members of the channel. It will be his organized auto racing debut.
