Bridgerton Season 3 will be split into two parts – and you’ll have just enough time to read a book or two between them.
Bridgerton is one of Netflix ‘s biggest hits – it follows eight sisters and brothers from the distinguished Bridgerton family as they desperately try to find love.
The first part of the third season will be released on May 16 and the second part on June 13. That means it’s time to remember the original source – the novels by Julia Quinn. To prevent you from getting lost in a tangle of gossip and love affairs, we have arranged all the books in the correct order.
Bridgerton Books in Chronological Order
1. The Duke And I, 2000
The first novel in the series tells of Daphne and the Duke of Hastings, as well as the Crown Prince, conspiracy and lots of gossip. In Daphne’s story, the wedding was only the beginning, as the Duke hid something very important from his naive wife about his attitude towards his own family.
2. The Viscount Who Loved Me, 2000
Daphne’s older brother Anthony decides to get married. His main criterion for choosing a wife is the impossibility of falling in love with her. It seems that the bride has been chosen, but the older sister of the chosen one desperately wants to break off the engagement.
3. An Offer from a Gentleman, 2001
A retelling of the Cinderella story starring Benedict Bridgerton in the main role. At the ball, he meets a beautiful stranger whom he must find at all costs. The dastardly wicked stepmother is also present.
4. Romancing Mister Bridgerton, 2002
When Colin Bridgerton returns home to see old friends, he suddenly realizes that he is in love with his childhood sweetheart. But the problem is, the girl who once idolized him is now unwilling to reciprocate.
5. To Sir Phillip, With Love, 2003
Eloise Bridgerton, who has decided to remain an old maid, receives a proposal of marriage from one of the most eligible bachelors in London. Of course, not everything is so simple and the girl sets a condition for her admirer – if Phillip Crane does not win her heart within a certain period of time, there will be no wedding.
6. When He Was Wicked, 2004
Francesca Bridgerton recently lost her beloved husband, but if this is a tragedy for her, it is a torment for Michael Sterling, who has been in love with her for a long time. He was a friend of the deceased and now he finds it impossible to fight for Francesca’s love and he is faced with a dilemma – honor or love?
7. It’s In His Kiss, 2005
Hyacinth Bridgerton is known for her sharp tongue, but it is to her that Gareth St. Clair turns for help. He needs the text translated, and Hyacinth is fluent in Italian. Or she just pretends to be.
8. On the Way to the Wedding, 2006
Lady Abernathy has decided to help her friend by arranging her engagement to Gregory Bridgerton. He doesn’t want to marry her and she loves someone else – but the woman doesn’t see a problem with that. But what to do about the fact that Lady Abernathy herself is falling in love with Gregory?
Key Differences Between Bridgerton Books and The Show
First of all, of course, the main difference between the series and the books is the order – if in the book cycle the third story is about Benedict, then in the third season of Bridgerton we will see the love story of Colin and Penelope.
At the same time, it is not yet known what the future fourth season will focus on – whether it will return to the story of Benedict, go further with Eloise’s one, or even focus on Francesca, who, judging by the trailer, will get quite a lot of attention in the third season.
The show’s creators also revealed the identity of Lady Whistledown at the end of the first season, while in the books we learn about her only in the fourth part, Romancing Mister Bridgerton.
