Released over two weeks ago, Deadpool & Wolverine is breaking box office records. The film has already surpassed $900 million globally, currently at $903.3 million. With international earnings at $472.3 million and domestic earnings at $431 million, it is projected to hit the $1 billion mark this weekend.

The movie has become the eighth highest-grossing MCU release domestically, overtaking Captain Marvel, and is now the third highest-grossing R-rated release internationally, surpassing Deadpool 2. It has also exceeded the total earnings of both Deadpool and Deadpool 2 in all markets.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Blake Lively steps into the role of Lady Deadpool, but her husband’s film is proving to be a significant competitor for her own major release this weekend. Lively stars in It Ends with Us, based on the 2016 novel of the same name, playing Lily Bloom. The film also features Justin Baldoni as Ryle Kincaid and Brandon Sklenar as Atlas Corrigan.

Released to mixed reviews and earning $7 million in previews, Lively hopes her film will rival and perhaps even surpass Deadpool & Wolverine. The couple seems to be engaged in a lighthearted box office showdown, a topic Lively recently discussed.

In an interview with Capital FM, Lively displayed her sense of humor while talking about It Ends with Us, sharing a playful joke about the film.

“ Don’t go see Deadpool & Wolverine this weekend — f*ck that movie [studio erupts with laughter]. But just this weekend, though, I really love it. Either way, I get the top spot. It’s fine. You know what, see either one [more laughing]. It’s fine [Lively smiles].
