Um, hello fit new character.
Netflix just dropped the first five episodes of Emily In Paris season 4, and introduced us to a veeery mysterious and attractive man at the end of them. But who exactly is Marcello?
Wait, what happens at the end of Emily In Paris season 4 part 1?
*Spoilers, obviously* At the end of the first five episodes of Emily In Paris season 4, Emily and Gabriel are in a relationship, his restaurant failed to receive a Michelin star, and Camille is devastated to discover she isn’t pregnant after her test showed a false positive. Meanwhile, Sylvie speaks to the reporter over the #MeToo-inspired exposé of JVMA boss Louis de Leon, aka Nico’s – Mindy’s boyfriend – dad.
The teaser for the next batch of episodes shows Gabriel, Camille and Emily skiing together, with Camille whizzing down the mountain ahead of them, and Gabriel following close behind. Emily is left to struggle by herself, before a handsome Italian man steps in to help her; Marcello.
Who is Marcello?
According to Netflix, Marcello is originally from Rome, Italy, and is described as “direct, confident, and values simplicity. He’s substantive but never flashy — true to the roots of his family’s company.”
In the next five episodes, we’ll also meet Antonia Muratori, Marcello’s mother, described as “the matriarch of the Muratori family and the head of the family business. Antonia presides over their small village by building up the community and taking care of the people who live and work there. Even in uncertain times, Antonia is committed to maintaining the company’s soul.”
Could Marcello be Emily’s new love interest? In an interview with Cosmopolitan UK, Lily Collins, who plays Emily, revealed the cast went to Rome to film some episodes for the next part of season four, so we’ve got our fingers crossed!
Who is the actor that plays Marcello?
Marcello is played by Eugenio Franceschini, a 32-year-old actor originally from Verona, Italy. To date, he has mainly starred in Italian productions, and is most recognisable for his work in Sapore di te (2014), Maldamore (2014) and Medici (2016). His latest role was for a mini-comedy series called Gloria, in which he plays the role of Gabriele.
