Whether you liked it or not, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power became a hit series for Amazon and it was expected that the series would be renewed for a second season, whose eight episodes will premiere later this year. And while we’re still waiting for more precise updates on the premiere date of the second season, it seems that the season is going to bring us one of the biggest events in television history, as a major battle event has been teased by the showrunners of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

The showrunners, Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, had a talk with The Hollywood Reporter, discussing the series, the creative process behing the series’ evolution, as well as teasing a major battle that is supposedly to take place in the second season of the show.

As far as we found out, the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is definitely going to feature a major battle. Some fans speculate that it could be the famous Siege of Eregion, which is a major conflict from Tolkien’s canon; during this fight, Sauron attacked the Elvish realm of Eregion, which resulted in its destruction and the theft of most of the Rings of Power. Since this fits the lore of the TV series, many fans are hopeful that this is the major battle that the showrunners are talking about.

It could be some other, minor battle, but that wouldn’t make much sense, and it could also be a completely new conflict created specifically for the show, which would make more sense, but if that is the case, then we don’t have anything precise at this moment, as the showrunners have been secretive about the details.

Be that as it may, the series itself promises to deliver an epic, two-episode battle, which would be an event never before seen on television, as per the showrunners. We don’t have any details, as we have said, but it seems that this might be one of the biggest, if not the biggest battle scenes ever shown on television, which sounds like an epic event that we definitely want to see. We don’t know who will participate in the battle and what its outcome will be, but if it is going to be as epic as we think it will be – we definitely want to see it as soon as possible.
