Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 1 premiered on Netflix Thursday, August 15, and with it came another round of iconic, daring, downright jaw-dropping fits for Lily Collins’ character.
Over the years, Emily’s wardrobe has wowed for better or worse with bright colors, statement pieces, bold patterns, hats, heels, cozy sweaters, expensive couture, and more. Some outfits are “10/10. No notes!” material, while others are undeniably extra, but Season 4, Part 1 featured the twist of all twists when Emily sported — wait for it — a regular old sweatshirt! *gasp*
In the first five episodes of Season 4, Emily wore a variety of fabulous fits, from a red and white striped pantsuit in the premiere to an elaborate black and white striped masquerade ball ensemble. But the one piece of clothing Collins seemed most excited to snag from set was the aforementioned sweatshirt.
In a standout Season 4, Part 1 scene, Emily and Camille (Camille Razat) start fighting in the water lily pond in Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny. Predictably, the two wind up in the water, emerge with soaking wet clothes, and have a healing heart-to-heart while wrapped in towels. When they head back to Paris later that night, they’re wearing dry, casual, extremely out-of-character Claude Monet merch. Camille is in a white Claude Monet sweatshirt and water lily pond hat, and Emily’s black boots and handbag are paired with a white oversized water lily sweatshirt.
“Girl, it took enough seasons, right?” Collins laughed after Decider expressed gratitude over the fact that Emily got a break from the fancy clothes and was able to chill in a cozy sweatshirt.
“And by the way, that is something — I just realized — I did take that sweatshirt home, because we made it for the show and it doesn’t exist,” Collins continued. “It’s the most comfortable sweatshirt.” (And it’s extra special, because Lily is wearing a photo of a LILY pond! Aww!)

Sadly, we’ll have to wait until Season 4, Part 2 premieres on September 12 to see what other wild wardrobe choices Emily in Paris has in store for its characters, but following the Part 1 premiere we at least have eyes on a few upcoming Emily looks.
Behold: three comfy-looking coats (including one Season 4, Part 2 outfit that you really just have to see to believe).
