Is Emily In Paris copying Bridgerton? From a masquerade ball to a horse carriage romp and even namechecking the show - how Netflix's season four ripped off the steamy period drama |

Emily in Paris fans appeared to spot a scene they said was strikingly similar to one from Season 3 of Bridgerton.

Season 4 of Emily in Paris premiered on Thursday, and upon its return viewers can’t help but notice that an included scene is strikingly similar to a part in another hit Netflix series. On X, formerly Twitter, several have commented on how the titular character Emily Cooper (Lily Bloom) having a spicy makeout moment in a carriage mirrored Penelope Featherington and Colin’s Bridgerton moment in Bridgerton.

In Season 3 of Bridgerton, which wrapped in June, Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton) had a steamy smooch session in the back of a carriage.

In Season 4 of Emily in Paris, there was a carriage scene

Many on X couldn’t help but point out how Emily in Paris had a carriage scene like Bridgerton.

“OMG EMILY AND GABRIEL CARRIAGE SCENE TOO WAAAA!!!,” one exclaimed on the social media platform.

Another added, “If I had a nickel for every time I saw someone make out in a carriage on Netflix this summer, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice,” attaching a side by side photo of Brigerton’s carriage scene and Emily in Paris’ carriage scene.

There was also a carriage scene in Bridgerton, which wrapped in June

Meanwhile, a third person expressed, “Bridgerton carriage scene so iconic its on Emily in Paris haha.” Someone else joked, “Colin’s carriage scene was referenced in the new season of Emily in Paris, I’m f- -king laughing.”

Emily in Paris fans are in for a treat this season as the main character whose the show is based around has her complicated romances continue to play out on screen. Emily’s awkward love triangle left Brit hunk Alfie (portrayed by Lucien Laviscount) devastated following Camille’s (played by Camille Razat) bombshell at the end of season 3.

Reddit has been set ablaze with fan reactions on the latest Emily in Paris escapades, but beware – the rest of this story contains major spoilers for those yet to indulge in this season’s first episode, The Manchester Evening News reported.

A Reddit user posed a question in an Emily in Paris-themed thread, captioning their post: “Does anyone else notice S4 is much more dramatic and real??”

They shared their thoughts: “This season definitely gives off a much more mature tone than any other, but it can be a little too much. It’s no longer the comfort show I’ve familiarized myself with… I didn’t connect with Emily like I usually do?

They added: “It does get a little too real. There is a lot of stuff happening in a really short time but I also feel a lot of stuff is happening rather vaguely. I don’t understand how Emily and Gabriel could be together so quickly? What is the real relationship with Camille and her girlfriend? It all feels very short with little to no details, but a LOT of information.”
