BRYCE Young has been spotted for the first time since being benched by the Carolina Panthers.

Young had a tough start to his NFL career and is out of the starting quarterback role in just his second year.

Young reported to practice for the first time on Wednesday after it was announced that Andy Dalton would take over as the starting quarterback in Carolina.

He was seen signing autographs, but was clearly in a down mood while walking into the facility.

While young was signing the autographs, a fans gave him a kind message of encouragement after being benched.

“Keep your head up,” the fan said.

Young has a 2-16 record in his career so far, and he hasn’t found a way to establish himself as a starting-caliber quarterback.

In 2023, Young passed for 2,877 yards with 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

This season he was off to an even worse start, only passing for 245 yards in two games and throwing three interceptions. Young didn’t throw any touchdowns.

The Panthers quarterback was also thrust into an awful situation with little help around to help him succeed.

Young was sacked 62 times in the 2023 season, losing 477 yards from those sacks.

Despite not putting him in a position to succeed, the Panthers made the decision to bench the former No. 1 overall pick.

Some teammates shared that they feel bad about not helping Young succeed at the start of his career.

“We haven’t done the best [as teammates] to help him show his ability,” tight end Tommy Tremble said.

“I’ve seen the flashes and what he does on a daily basis in practice.

“I think just together as a group I feel bad that we couldn’t show that on Sundays.”

Panthers general manager Dave Canales didn’t show the same remorse, and said the decision was best for the team.

“I watched the film, I had a thought in mind, we all talked and I had to make the decision that was best for the team,” Canales said.

“I certainly take it personal. This is about building a culture, this is about building a football team that plays to a certain style, and that’s my main focus.

“And above all, it’s to help the Panthers to win. So that’s what the decision was about.”

With Young on the bench, 14-year veteran Andy Dalton will take over as the Panthers quarterback for the time being.
