Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are believed to have different thoughts about their life in America, with sources suggesting the Duke of Sussex feels like a spare part
Prince Harry has become a “grumpy spare” to Meghan Markle following one awkward outing, according to an expert.
The Duke of Sussex is said to be feeling “isolated” in America, while the Duchess of Sussex works on maintaining their Hollywood standing. Sources have suggested Harry feels as though Meghan “outshines him” following their recent tour of Colombia.
The trip saw Meghan take center stage as she delivered a speech on female empowerment. Royal expert Matt Wilkinson has said the trip was “created about Meghan” and pointed to one formal lunch in particular which showed a divide between the former Suits star and her husband.
“A lot of it was about Meghan. A lot of the images and the words sent out to us via the [Sussex] press office, [not] just by a pool reporter… it was all about Meghan. The whole thing was created about Meghan,” Wilkinson said.

During an appearance on True Royalty TV, he added: “And when you saw the footage that was filmed by people at the dinners or people who were there that weren’t part of this press pool, they showed a slightly different picture. Harry looked a little bit grumpy. May I use his vocabulary – he perhaps looked a bit like ‘the spare!'”
Wilkinson’s comments come after a source said Harry was “sulky” and “in the background” during the Colombia trip. In contrast, the source told The Sun Meghan appeared to be “comfortable stepping into the spotlight”.
They said: “Harry is feeling more and more isolated in California, which is why he has been reconnecting with old friends back home. The Colombia trip also really highlighted how Meghan is comfortable stepping into the spotlight, while Harry cuts a very sulky, unhappy figure in the background.
“He wants to carve out a way back into royal life back in the UK and is seeking counsel from old friends and associates.” It’s believed Harry has been messaging a number of pals in the UK about the possibility of him making a return.
One friend is believed to have created a plan for how Harry can re-build connections with people in the UK again and possibly return to “low-key royal duties”.
