While Ryan Reynolds’ dance in Deadpool & Wolverine was certainly extremely iconic, it would seem that Brie Larson already took his crown.
There are many things that have become iconic after the release of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine. From fans commenting ‘Why was Thor crying’ under every post about the film, to everyone thirsting over Hugh Jackman’s look in the film, it is safe to assume that this movie will be culturally significant in the future.
Deadpool’s dance in Deadpool & Wolverine | Marvel Studios
While these all have been talked about, nothing has been as iconic as the film’s opening sequence. Deadpool dances to NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye while destroying and disrespecting Logan’s corpse. Many fans have been recreating the scene online, and it has certainly taken Star Lord’s place as the most iconic dance sequence in the MCU.
Despite how iconic and significant this scene was, it would seem that the Captain Marvel actress, Brie Larson, has found a way to top it.
Brie Larson Is In Sync With Ryan Reynolds
In 2019, Brie Larson gave an interview on The Ellen Show, where she talked about various parts of her professional life. Since Ellen DeGeneres is known for having game segments in her show, the actress also took part in one such activity. Only, her game was a dance battle where random videos played in the background and she had to dance along.
While there were several iconic styles of dance and music videos, one specific song would stand out to Marvel fans after the release of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine. At one point during the segment, NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye begins to play, and the actress must match her movies to the music video of the song.
It is safe to say that the coincidence that Captain Marvel danced to Deadpool’s song five years before he did is quite hilarious.
Who Did It Better?
While many fans would like to end the conversation at the coincidence itself, one cannot help but wonder who performed NSYNC’s iconic choreography better, Ryan Reynolds or Brie Larson. Although some might argue that Deadpool’s performance was much more iconic than Larson’s, there is one factor that might deter them from giving the win to Reynolds.
It has become public knowledge now that Reynolds was not the one who performed the dance routine in Deadpool & Wolverine. Although the actor is known for performing most of his stunts and is almost always under the mask, during the opening credits of the film, it was professional dancer, Nick Pauley, who was playing the role of Deadpool.
With this in mind, and considering how well Larson danced to the song and followed the steps, many would agree that she would win a dance battle against Reynolds.
