The Lily Collins-led Netflix series is officially returning for another season!

As she gets whisked off for a romantic getaway in Rome, she realizes she loves it more than she expected. And it comes at a perfect time, as Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) asks her to open up an Agence Grateau office in the heart of Italy.

As Emily now experiences life and love in a new city, will her Parisian past come back to find her? If Gabriel has his way, it’s definitely possible. Just days after Emily in Paris season 4 part 2 aired on Netflix in September 2024, folks learned the hit series would be returning for season 5. What’s more, the show confirmed it with an Instagram photo of Lily Collins sipping an espresso with the words “Emily in Paris” on the cup and the number “5” on the bottom.

“It’s official: EMILY IN PARIS is coming back for Season 5!” read the caption on September 16.

While it’s unclear how things will end up for Emily, folk loved seeing Eugenio Franceschini portray her Italian love interest Marcello. After Emily got swept up in all things Italy, Eugenio told People in September 2024 he had high hopes for coming back for another round of Emily in Paris.

“For me it’s an unexpected gift, because everything happened very quickly,” he told the outlet. “When I was selected, I was filming a TV series here in Italy, so I didn’t have time to realize what was happening … My work is up to the [standard of the] series and this is the most important thing.”

And though things are always up in the air when it comes to Emily in Paris, the cast wants one person to join the show for season 5. After rumors swirled that Sex and the City alum Kim Cattrall could potentially guest star on the series, the cast have high hopes for her to make an appearance.

“We’ve been talking about – earlier – about having Kim Cattrall, manifesting her presence on Emily in Paris,” Lucas Bravo told IMDb when he was asked about who he’d love to see come on the series. “But it would imply that there’s a substantial role for her to take on, and also [for] her to say yes to that idea. But I’ve been floating all day and dreaming about that opportunity and I hope it happens.”

Are there any clues about what Emily in Paris season 5 will be about?

When Lily spoke to Netflix’s Tudum in September 2024, she shared Emily and Marcello’s romantic storyline will continue to be seen throughout season 5.

“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she told the publication. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

Additionally, creator Darren Star told the outlet in the same interview that Emily isn’t leaving Paris after moving to Rome to open a new office for Agence Grateau. But it doesn’t mean she will be in Paris full-time.

“Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome, he added. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”
