Editors exist for a reason, and these Star Wars moments clearly prove why.

Star Wars has an enormous running time for all nine episodes of the saga and two feature-length spin-off films.

And sometimes that running time is not used very wisely, with some scenes actually detracting from the quality of the movies.

Here are some of the scenes that Star Wars could have been better without.

The fireplace scene on Naboo (Episode II – Attack of the Clones)

To be honest, most of the romantic scenes between Anakin and Padme from Episode II make you cringe because of the badly written dialog.

But the one with Padme in a leather gimp suit, playing all touchy-feely while Anakin simps hard — whoever wrote that should be sent to the farthest reaches of the Outer Rim with no way of returning.

Horseback riding across the ship (Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker)

A scene spectacular in its stupidity — the whole cavalry charge could have been quickly ended by simply tilting the ship.

Using magnetic boots instead of alien horses or cutting the scene altogether would have solved the problem immediately, but the fans got what they got.

Padme’s reaction to Anakin’s slaughter of the Sand People (Episode II – Attack of the Clones)

Adding that scene added absolutely nothing of value and only showed her strange lack of empathy. “Oh, you killed an entire village?

That’s cool, to be angry is to be human.” Removing it would have made her surprise at Anakin’s fall in Revenge of the Sith seem more genuine, and made Anakin seem so afraid of what he was capable of that he wouldn’t tell anyone about it.

Leia flying through space (Episode VIII – The Last Jedi)

Considering that Carrie Fisher had passed away before the release of the movie, this would have been a fitting end for her character.

Instead, fans were treated to a scene that looked like a sick joke, with Leia being thrown into space by an explosion, only to suddenly fly back Superman- style using her never-before-seen Force powers.

Some fans even burst out laughing during this supposedly suspenseful scene.

Rey Skywalker (Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker)

Just when fans were expecting Rey to say that she is “Nobody,” showing her desire to move away from her evil legacy, or to say “Rey Palpatine,” showing her willingness to accept who she is, fans got… this.

A fitting ending, as much of a disaster as the entire sequel trilogy.
