Marvel Cinematic Universe fans can look forward to the violence in Daredevil: Born Again going even deeper after Netflix’s Daredevil TV show. After his return to the MCU timeline in 2021 through Spider-Man: No Way Home, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock is about to become one of the biggest players in the franchise again. Set to premiere in March 2025, Daredevil: Born Again will be the second series for Cox with Marvel, following his run on Netflix with The Defenders franchise.
In a new Rotten Tomatoes interview, the Daredevil: Born Again cast was asked about the upcoming Disney+ series, and how far they can go in terms of the tone and violence in comparison to what they did with Netflix’s Daredevil. According to Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, there are things in Daredevil: Born Again that go “much further” than what was presented in the Netflix series, as he stated the following:
There’s one thing in particular, that my character does, that I can’t believe made it into the cut.
How Daredevil: Born Again Is Already Teased To Go Further Than Netflix’s Daredevil
Even though the Daredevil: Born Again footage at D23 hasn’t been released to the public yet, there is already a lot of evidence that supports D’Onofrio’s comments. While Kingpin is back for the new series, Daredevil: Born Again is set to introduce one of Matt’s other dangerous foes, with Muse making his MCU debut. From everything that is known about Muse in the Daredevil comics, it will be fascinating to see how they adapt the character to the world of live-action, especially given he is one of Daredevil’s more inherently violent foes.
The ending of Daredevil season 3, even though it acted as a series finale, perfectly set up the evolution of Bullseye, which Daredevil: Born Again is also finally set to take advantage of in the new series. Given how far they were able to go with Bullseye in the Netflix drama, it will be exciting to see how far Daredevil: Born Again is willing to go all these years later. Since Daredevil: Born Again will take place years after Daredevil season 3, time will tell how even more dangerous Bullseye has gotten by then.
It’s also key to remember that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is also back for Daredevil: Born Again, showing the MCU is definitely not holding back on displaying some of the most violent players in the franchise. Then there is also the inclusion of White Tiger, who will also be able to add some great action pieces. Hopefully, before 2024 is over, a Daredevil: Born Again trailer will have been released by Marvel Studios to give the audience a taste of what D’Onofrio is teasing about the series.
