Millie Bobby Brown Labels Herself as a "Woke Karen," Dividing the Internet Once Again

Thanks to the role of El in Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things, young actress Millie Bobby Brown became a global star. And while she has since grown as an actress, appearing in other projects as well – for example, as Enola Holmes in the eponymous Netflix film series – she has also been attracting a lot of attention because of her private life.

Her relationship with Jake Bongiovi, son of popular singer Jon Bon Jovi, was highly publicized and their recent wedding was one of the hottest topics in the media. Aside from that, Brown is also known for her very specific statements, which have often been at the center of various Internet debates, as the young actress is not afraid of speaking her mind, even if she annoys a lot of people.

While promoting her latest film, Damsel, Millie Bobby Brown recently made an appearance in the Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware podcast, where she discussed her private life as well, labeling herself as “a very woke Karen,” dividing the Internet once again.

The talk was a long one and many topics were discussed, but what sparked most controversy was Brown’s statement that she was a “woke Karen.” In case you don’t know, a “Karen” is a slang term for, as Wikipedia describes it, “a middle-class white American woman who is perceived as entitled or excessively demanding.” Karens are often featured in memes and are generally used to depict annoying people and people who think they’re (more) worthy than they actually are, or who think they are entitled simply because they are something. Here’s what she said:

“I’m a Karen. … I’m a very woke Karen. I’m a woke Karen. But I definitely, you know, I do think it’s important to know where you got — where you went wrong and always room for improvement.”

The woke part is not an issue, but the girl should keep it a bit more real, shouldn’t she? She’s not a major star, and she’s not a major actress. She has one role in one streaming series that most people know her for, and that’s about it. She really did not give enough to the world of film to be so entitled, right? Plus, she’s just 20(!!!) years old! But, whether we say does not matter, as Millie Bobby Brown obviously thinks that she has the right to trash people, as she has done in numerous cases per her own words:

“I think it’s important, you know? Here’s the thing. My whole life is people criticizing me. So, I’m going to give it back to you sometimes, you know? I don’t like ordering something and it not being in the bag. I do my best, I try my best every day. I work really hard. … If I’ve ordered a chicken sandwich, I’d just like a chicken sandwich. Like, don’t forget it, please. It’s made my day, the chicken sandwich, and when I look into the bag and there’s not one thing I’ve asked for, it kills me.”

“And sometimes my fiancé [Jake Bongiovi] orders a drink, and it’s not the drink he wanted, and so I’m like, ‘Excuse me, sorry. Like, this isn’t the drink [he wanted].’ Jake’s like, ‘Mill, please. I’ll drink it.’ And I’m like, ‘Why would you do that? You live your life once. Drink that drink and drink the right one.’”

“Once, we were at a hotel and the woman was pulling my fiancé aside like, ‘We need to settle payment,’ or whatever. And I just was like, ‘Yeah, like, we will, but at the end of our stay. Like, we’re still staying here.’ And she was just like, ‘Yeah, but you could settle it now.’ And I was like, ‘But I don’t want to. I want to do it at the end of our stay.’ I really think that you should encourage guests to complete transaction of payment at the end of their stay, so they feel as welcome and as calm as possible.”

“Basically, this old lady came up to me and was like, ‘Do you know where the socks are?’ I think she thought I worked there, and I was like, ‘I don’t, but I’m going to help you.’ I was searching everywhere for these socks. So, I went and found an employee. I said, ‘Excuse me, I need this pattern, but I need it in this size, can you help me?’ She was so unhelpful. And I was just like, ‘Please, this isn’t even for me.’ … So, I left a review.”

We just hope she takes bad reviews as good as she gives them out. What do you think of her words and stances? Do you agree with her, or is she simply annoying? Let us know in the comments below!
