Megan Thee Stallion's Single Jumps Nearly 6,500% In Sales

Megan Thee Stallion is preparing to release her new album Megan later this month. She’s already shared several singles from the project, but she’s not limiting herself to only pushing her own music at this moment

As she continues to promote the tracks from Megan, Stallion is also rising on the Billboard charts with one of her recent collaborations. The rapper joined Glorilla on the tune “Wanna Be” some weeks ago, and it became a hit at the time. Recently, Cardi B jumped on board a remix, and her presence has helped the track surge on the rankings in America.

Sales of “Wanna Be” soared once Cardi became involved. In the past tracking week, Luminate reports that the single sold a little more than 13,000 copies. The tracking frame prior, it only managed 200.

From one period to the next, sales of “Wanna Be” improved by just under 6,500%. That’s a massive uptick in purchases, and it can clearly be connected to Cardi’s new reworking of the tune.

All those purchases of “Wanna Be” help it rise on a number of Billboard charts. The tune performs best on several lists that look only at buying habits in the country. The rappers push the track to No. 2 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and Rap Digital Song Sales tallies. On both, it comes in behind Eminem’s “Houdini,” which was unbeatable this time around.

“Wanna Be” sold so well last week that it also manages to compete with the best and the biggest, regardless of genre. The single is back on the Digital Song Sales list, re-entering at No. 4.

While the Cardi remix helped spur this rush of purchases, she’s not credited on any of the aforementioned charts. Billboard only adds a musician’s name to a tune that’s already present on the weekly lists when that version becomes the most-consumed. Cardi was responsible for many sales, but clearly not the majority, as she’s not named on the win.
