TWDU has seen several cast members step behind the camera to direct episodes of the main series and its spinoffs.
The Walking Dead: Dead City will premiere its second season in 2025. Lauren Cohan, who portrays Maggie Rhee in TWDU has directed two episodes for the upcoming season. It is always exciting to see our favorite cast members take on another role within the fandom. Cohan isn’t the first cast member to direct at least one episode of the main series or its spinoffs.

Michael Cudlitz is well known for many roles throughout his career including The Walking Dead’s quick witted Abraham Ford. After his character’s brutal death at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in season 7, Cudltiz would return to direct several episodes of the series and one of the spinoffs.

Lennie James began portraying Morgan Jones during the pilot episode of The Walking Dead. He reappeared briefly in season 3 and then again in season 5, where he was part of the main cast until season 5. This was when he became the first crossover character as Morgan’s story would continue in season 4 of that series, where he remained until the eighth and final season.

Alycia Debnam-Carey began her journey as Alicia Clark in the pilot episode of Fear the Walking Dead. She played the role through season 7 and made her longed-for return in the series finale in season eight.

Portraying con-man Victor Strand, Domingo did an incredible job bringing life to this character. He outlived the finale and was last seen heading off with his new family.

Aisha Tyler joined TWDU in season 7, episode 3 of Fear the Walking Dead as a character named Mickey. She only appeared in that episode but was mentioned in episode 8 as she was scouting, opting to avoid the conflict between Alicia and Strand.
