From’s Season 3 Finale Monster Reveal Repeats The Disturbing Twist From Disney’s $351 Million Horror Sci-Fi This Year

After plenty of anticipation, From’s season 3 finale finally reveals the truth behind Fatima’s pregnancy, which culminates in a twist reminiscent of a 2024 sci-fi horror movie’s shocking ending. This year has seen a notable trend towards pregnancy horror in both film and TV mediums, ranging from the Antichrist birth narratives in ImmaculateFirst Omen, and Apartment 7A to the monstrous birth twists in projects like Beetlejuice 2 and Alien: Romulus. As the year comes to a close, this horror pattern continues in From season 3’s ending, which finally sees Fatima give birth to the not-so-human baby growing inside her.

Throughout From season 3, Fatima experienced one of the show’s most disturbing storylines yet. After shockingly learning that she was pregnant in From season 2, as she had previously been told that she couldn’t have children, the pregnancy took some unexpected turns. From terrible morning sickness to cravings that included rotten crops and human blood, it quickly became clear that Fatima’s baby wasn’t a celebratory miracle. As it turned out, the child was never hers, with the birth of Fatima’s monstrous “baby” being reminiscent of the disturbing baby twist from Alien: Romulus, which made $351 million at the box office.

As if Fatima’s pregnancy symptoms weren’t horrifying enough, the actual birth of the being inside her makes the storyline all the more frightening. When the baby is born in From’s season 3 finale, it remains inside the placenta as the Kimono Woman takes it down to the tunnels, where a group of From’s nocturnal monsters eagerly awake. Suddenly, the baby begins to grow while still inside the placenta, forming in a distorted manner until it becomes the size of a full-grown human adult. When it breaks out of the casing, the baby is revealed as the resurrected Smiley Monster.

The baby in From instantly growing into a full-sized humanoid creature intent on attacking the people around bears a resemblance to the human-Xenomorph hybrid baby in Alien: Romulus. In the 2024 horror movie, a desperate and pregnant Kay injects herself with a blood fusion, which morphs the baby inside her with the Xenomorph blood. The pregnancy escalates as quickly as Fatima’s in From, with the baby then growing into a full-sized killer creature in a matter of moments after the birth. While Fatima survived the aftermath, Kay wasn’t so fortunate in Alien: Romulus’ ending.

When the Smiley Monster died in From season 2, he was almost instantly transported into Fatima to be reborn. The season 3 finale revealed that this was because the monsters were originally humans who sacrificed their children in exchange for eternal life, which turned them into nocturnal creatures. Given the reveal that Smiley was resurrected by having him grow again within Fatima, From confirms the monsters can’t truly die.

From season 4 has officially been renewed by MGM+, but no release date has been announced.

This means that if Boyd or the others kill another monster in From season 4, it will inevitably be reborn by putting Fatima or a different character through another torturous pregnancy. However, while Fatima survived giving birth to the resurrected Smiley Monster, that doesn’t mean the next person impregnated would be safe. It’s still unclear why exactly the Kimono Woman’s ghost needed Elgin to assist with Fatima and deliver the “baby” to the other monsters, but her history may end up shedding some light on how the residents can combat another creature pregnancy in From.
