Despite their major size difference, both female dragons will prove how crucial their roles are in the upcoming war.
Just like its much earlier sequel, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon wouldn’t be the same without its fire-spitting creatures keeping Dragonstone and King’s Landing’s common citizens in awe every time they come out for a walk in the sky.
Despite quite a limited number of dragons in both shows due to the beasts’ own dynasty crisis, they’re still an essential war tool for both the Blacks and the Greens ahead of the approaching war that will decide who has more rights (or physical strength) to sit on the Iron Throne.
Since both teams have recently had concerns regarding the number of dragons their members can potentially claim, the Targaryens’ most common pets and their abilities are surely what everything in there depends on, and it will be fair to say that the two sides do have major game players, despite seemingly radical differences between them.
So far, House of the Dragon’s latest episodes proved that the Greens are currently having a major advantage over their rivals by getting Vhagar to fight on their side. Ridden by Aemond Targaryen, Vhagar is the oldest, the fiercest and, most importantly, the biggest dragon of all that Westeros has ever seen.
Called the Queen of All Dragons for a reason, Vhagar has seen the land change throughout the last 180 years while being ridden by Aegon the Conqueror’s sister-wife, Visenya.
Though smaller than her already deceased fellow dragons, Balerion and Meraxes, once owned by Aegon and his other sister Rhaenys respectively, Vhagar is the only living creature who has vast experience in battles and wars and is capable of bringing any other dragon down, just like she did with Arrax that belonged to Prince Lucerys.
Every single dragon still out there in Westeros is nothing compared to Vhagar, but even the smallest creatures have the potential to have a major impact on the way the war eventually determines the winning team.
Baela Targaryen, Daemon’s daughter, might have a tiny dragon called Moondancer if she’s compared to other creatures (Moondancer is believed to be the size of a warhorse), yet she will eventually have a great help from her pet when Aegon’s Sunfyre goes for her.
Despite the obvious downsides that Moondancer has, she is nonetheless capable of beating Sunfyre up enough for the latter to die of those wounds several months later.
Since Baela is a pretty much frequent character in House of the Dragon season 2, the chances of her engaging in the whole fight alongside her dragon and securing some major victories for her team are pretty high.
